David Goldar is the captain of Pafos and one of the key pillars of the Cypriot side. With the Galician centre-back in their squad, the club has achieved the best results in its history, including its first-ever league title and first domestic cup triumph. In the 2023–2024 season, Pafos lifted the Cup, and one campaign later — with David playing 29 matches and scoring six goals — they won the League, earning the right to compete for a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Well established at the club thanks to his on-field performances and his ability to lead a dressing room made up of as many as 17 different nationalities, Goldar helped Pafos secure a historic qualification for the Champions League group stage. There, the team achieved notable results such as a victory over Villarreal, a draw against Monaco, and a draw away to Olympiacos.

A product of Celta de Vigo’s academy, Goldar arrived in Cyprus in the summer of 2023 after progressing through Spanish football. He made his LaLiga debut in 2014 under Luis Enrique. The current PSG head coach placed his trust in Goldar after the defender had come through all the youth categories at Celta and handed him his first-team debut in a match against Osasuna.

After spells at clubs such as Ponferradina, Pontevedra, Cornellà and Nàstic de Tarragona, David moved to Ibiza, where he made history with the Balearic side. In his first season, he played a crucial role in their promotion to the Segunda División, featuring in 25 matches and scoring four goals. A year later, he helped consolidate the club in Spain’s second tier with seven goals in 36 appearances, numbers that made him the highest-scoring defender in the division.

After leaving Ibiza, he spent time at Burgos before beginning a highly successful spell at Pafos, where his contribution goes beyond the pitch. On the field, his high-level performances have made him one of the fans’ biggest idols, while off the pitch, his leadership and management skills have been key to the evolution of a club that, just ten years after its foundation, has already faced teams such as Bayern Munich and Juventus in the Champions League.

Now, David Goldar joins Imagosport to work on his image and communication at a key moment in his sporting career.
