Malmö FF, a new challenge for Miguel Ángel Ramírez
Miguel Ángel Ramírez begins a new chapter at the helm of Malmö FF, the most successful club in Swedish football and European runners-up. The Canary Islands-born coach thus faces a new challenge after his experiences in Ecuador (Independiente del Valle), Brazil (Internacional de Porto Alegre), the United States (Charlotte), Qatar (Al-Wakrah) and Spain (Sporting and Zaragoza).
Malmö is betting on a coach with a professional track record that includes promoting such outstanding players as Moisés Caicedo, Piero Hincapié and Willian Pacho. “Miguel is a coach with charisma and incredible football knowledge that allows us to take another step forward. He is a coach we have been following for several years. He has experience in youth football and has developed many talents, which is of great interest to us,” said Daniel Andersson, Malmö’s sporting director.
The Swedish team finished fifth in their league and is currently competing in the Europa League. ‘It’s a big responsibility for me,‘ said Miguel Ángel. ‘Malmö’s philosophy is to develop talent, but also to win, and I fully share that vision,’ he said at a press conference held in English.
The signing was announced a few minutes before the Canary Islander’s presentation. At ImagoSport, we have been working for several days to coordinate communication with the club and we also accompanied Miguel Ángel at his appearance.
His arrival caused a notable impact not only in Sweden, where the Canary Islander’s experience was highlighted, but also on the international scene. In Spain, the main national sports newspapers highlighted Miguel Ángel Ramírez’s ambitious message at his presentation: ‘I want to win titles’, while other countries where the coach has worked, such as Ecuador, also echoed his incorporation into the Swedish team, recalling his successful past at Independiente del Valle.
Good luck in your new adventure, Miguel Ángel!
