Samuel Sánchez, ambassador for the first edition of the Tour of Armenia

Samuel Sánchez continues to cement his status as an international cycling icon. The 2008 Beijing Olympic champion has been named ambassador for the inaugural edition of the Tour of Armenia, a new professional race launched with the goal of establishing itself on the international cycling calendar.

The race, part of the UCI Europe Tour and classified as a 2.2-category event, will take place from September 10 to 13 and will feature four stages, a total distance of 587 kilometers, and 5,300 meters of cumulative elevation gain. Samu will be there for the final days and will take part in the competition’s closing ceremony in Yerevan.

The choice of Samuel to represent the launch of this new race highlights the prestige he continues to enjoy in the world of cycling years after retiring from professional racing. His experience, his status as an Olympic champion, and his ongoing close ties to the sport make him a figure capable of bringing international recognition and visibility to the project.
